One of the Britain’s most iconic restaurant brands is preparing to open a new base in West Yorkshire, with Sewell Construction paving the way for it to be fitted out.

Founded in London in 1917, The Ivy is a favourite for celebrities and visitors from across the globe, and will open its latest grille and brasserie at the Victoria Quarter in Leeds later this year, with quality food and cocktails at the heart of the offer.

Chris Soper, Commercial Director at Sewell Construction, said: “The building is Grade II listed and in a very prestigious area of Leeds. We brought our skills and expertise in this field to completely remodel and refurbish the interior.

“Working on behalf of Hammerson and Workman, we created the shell of the restaurant and bar ahead of the specialist fit out.

“Extensive structural alterations have been carried out to convert three separate retail units into one and the whole unit covers five floors.

“The client has already heavily invested in this area of Leeds in recent years and we are delighted to have been involved in this project as our business continues to grow across the Yorkshire region.”

The project at the Victoria Quarter in Leeds came after a series of other schemes completed by Sewell Construction across Yorkshire.

This includes creating a multi-million pound centre of excellence for Steeper Group staff in Leeds.

Steeper Group specialises in the fields of prosthetics, orthotics and assistive technology, delivering world-leading technologies and products to enhance people’s lives.

Sewell Construction’s Danny Walker project managed both schemes after beginning his career with Sewell as an apprentice joiner in August 2005.
