Mike Pennington and Kevin Walsh to 'Talk Leadership'
Sewell Group is finishing its Let’s Talk Leadership series with two renowned local leaders at the helm.
Mike Pennington and Kevin Walsh will be the last guest speakers for the hugely popular events that have been running since July.
Mike Pennington, is the Publisher for the Hull & Humber News & Media Groups, which includes the Hull Daily Mail. Kevin Walsh is the Chief Executive at KCOM Group Plc where he has worked for nearly 14 years. Both are important leaders for two of the most well recognised companies in the city.
Paul Sewell, Sewell Managing Director and event host said:
“We’re really looking forward to finishing the series of leadership talks in style with two prominent and successful leaders from the city. They both have a great deal of experience and like us here at Sewell Group care deeply about our communities. With Mike and Kevin accepting the invitation to speak at this event, we will undoubtedly be finishing the series on a high.”
Mike Pennington said:
“You are only as good as your leader and the leader sets the tone, pace and culture of the business. As a leader, “if you change nothing, nothing will change” and most people buy people, not products.”
“Good and powerful leadership is vitally important if the organisation is to succeed, lack of leadership is like a rudderless ship – off course.”
“I’m looking forward to addressing a Sewell audience that has a reputation for strong leadership, strong work ethic and a great culture – maybe I can learn from them.”
“I want the people in the audience to feel engaged, motivated and interested but above all see me for what I am, a no frills person but highly driven!”
Kevin Walsh said:
“In leadership you need ‘committed followers’, because without followers you can’t be a leader! How can you ‘recruit’ committed followers; be authentic, create a vision or story that has an emotional connection.”
“I’m excited about the opportunity to speak at the event and feel privileged to be asked. One of my work mantras is ‘always learning, always improving’, so I hope the audience pick up a few leadership tips that they can build on and adapt to their own circumstances and behaviours.”
To book your place at the event, taking place at 4pm on Tuesday 26th November at Sewell Studio, Geneva Way, Hull, contact Laura Fermandell on 01482 713096 or email events@sewell-group.co.uk.
