Students move into the UK's best 'Home from homes'
The £30 million complex at the University of Hull will house 560 students in eight and four bedroom flats, alongside studio and wheelchair accessible accommodation. There will also be communal and learning space and students will move in phases over the coming weeks.
Trudi Vout, Director of Campus and Accommodation Services at the university, said:
Our aim is to provide an outstanding student experience, as they are at the heart of everything we do, and this new accommodation highlights our commitment to ensuring that happens. We must ensure our estate is in line with our academic and business needs in order to be competitive in higher education and be well placed to attract quality students and staff from across the UK and the rest of the world. This is incredibly beneficial for our future here at the University of Hull and our students will have first class accommodation.
Sewell Construction started on site in June 2015 and students are setting up home in the new residences in phases.
Steve Gibson, Construction Managing Director said:
“This will be world class accommodation and something really special for students at the University of Hull.
“It’s a scheme we’ll be proud to have on our CV’s for years to come.”
