Making the best use of space at Wilberforce Health Centre
Work is underway to reconfigure parts of Wilberforce Health Centre in Hull, accommodating additional tenants and ensuring the building is used as efficiently as possible.
Once completed in late summer, the Story Street building will have extra bookable clinical rooms and space for Hull City Council to relocate some of its community health services.
A small part of the ground floor and the entire third floor will be reconfigured by the Sewell Construction team in line with NHS guidelines and the building will remain open throughout the 19-week programme.
The space was previously occupied by a combination of primary care providers and community services.
The reconfiguration of Wilberforce Health Centre follows recent work at Calvert Health Centre in West Hull, which saw vacant space within the building, previously occupied by Hull City Council, maximised to create a new home for the Hull Eating Disorder Service, Evolve.
The £12m centre, originally built by Sewell, was identified as a building which could be used more effectively following changes in how the local authority delivered services there and this work was part of supporting NHS Hull CCG’s clinical services strategy, as well as ensuring that resources are used to best effect.
