Charity prepares to open the door to more young people following extension

More support will be available to children and young people growing up in difficult circumstances in Hull after the Construction team finished work to extend facilities at The Hut in Preston Road.

Run by the Child Dynamix Charity, The Hut is a youth club premises which now includes a training kitchen, activity room, space for activities such as dance, IT and social space, and meeting rooms.

The latest project started in September last year and was close to Sewell Construction’s heart as the team built the original premises in 2008 and worked with Child Dynamix to secure Big Lottery funding for the extension.

The project has seen some of the original team reassemble on site for the extension work, reuniting some of the sub-contractors who worked on the initial project on site and using the same design team.

The charity works with 6,000 children and young people in Hull and the Humber every year.

Graham Lawson, Site Manager at Sewell Construction, said: “Everyone is over the moon with the finished product.

“It’s great that Sewell has been involved in this scheme from the very beginning and has been able to go back to deliver the latest extension.”
