A £30m student complex rises at Hull University

A spectacular site now awaits visitors to the University of Hull’s Cottingham Road campus.

External steelworks have been completed on the six new accommodation blocks, which will house 560 students when completed and opened in 2016.

The final steel frameworks were completed on the final two blocks this week, and Martin Standley, Project Manager for Sewell Construction, says it has made for a remarkable sight.

“It really is starting to look impressive, and now, with the framework steel in place, you can appreciate the scale of the development. There’s a great team spirit on site, it’s a fantastic scheme to be involved with.”

Chris Paget, Director of Estates at the University of Hull, said:

“Sewell have worked in clear and open partnership with the university to ensure we get the best possible outcome at the right quality and I’ve been especially impressed with their systematic and
organised approach to the delivery of the project.”
