Health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to us and in a step to further ensure the health of people who work on our projects, we’ve recently installed defibrillators on construction projects across our business.

A defibrillator – often referred to as an AED or PAD – is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. Using an AED increases the chances of survival by a huge 90%. The equipment talks the person performing First Aid through every step needed to be taken to save an individual’s life, so you do not have to be specifically trained in using a defibrillator.

The chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of about 10% with each minute of delay, and so having defibrillators on our sites is such a crucial addition.

We want to keep all of people who work with us as safe as possible whilst onsite, and although we’re hoping not to have to use them, the defibrillators provide lifesaving equipment should anyone ever suffer cardiac arrest.
