Sewell Construction awarded place on £750m Fusion21 Decarbonisation Framework
Following a competitive tender process Yorkshire-based construction company, Sewell Construction, has secured a place on the £750million Fusion21 Decarbonisation Framework.
The four-year framework, structured across two lots, has been developed to support public sector organisations in the design and delivery of energy efficiency measures, combining contracts that can deliver thermal fabric improvements, heating and renewables, power and building management systems.
Sewell Construction has been appointed to lot two, covering the North East and Yorkshire. Worth up to £250million, this lot focuses on the decarbonisation of public and education buildings.

“Won by competitive tender, we were able to demonstrate our capabilities and commitment to decarbonisation and delivering sustainability across our breadth of projects across the region. 99.5% waste is diverted from landfill, over 100 trees have been planted, and our focus is on minimizing consumption and production during the delivery of products and services, as well as delivering off-set initiatives to counteract any negative impacts, to name just a few.
“This framework will help us build upon our already proven track record of delivering intelligent sustainable solutions for our public sector partners and is crucial to our wider businesses sustainability agenda. “
Sewell Construction has been operating across the Yorkshire and Humber region for over 140 years and is part of Sewell Estates, which delivers investments, developments, estates planning and facilities management solutions for public and private sector customers.

The Fusion21 framework provides geographical coverage across the UK down to a regional and local level, with the option to deliver social value to communities aligned to each suppliers’ organisational priorities.
Sewell Construction has been in the limelight over recent years for its social value efforts, most recently having won a Queens Award for Enterprise for Promoting Opportunity in 2021.

The Framework is aimed at public sector clients who are working towards Net Zero Carbon by 2050 to their non-domestic buildings with a prequalified supply chain to deliver energy efficient measures, this includes corporate assets and schools, colleges, universities, and academy trusts. The target for non-domestic buildings in the UK is to achieve performance rating band C by 2030, this Framework is designed to assist public sector users in the delivery of this target.
Fusion21 awarded spots to 50 main contractors and specialists at the start of the year, with appointed suppliers committed to working to the new energy retrofit specification PAS2038:2021 standard, and Trustmark accredited.
