Sewell's forecourts receiving international recognition

Local retailer to be showcased internationally.

Local independent retailer ‘Sewell on the go’ will be representing the city across international platforms over the coming weeks.

Patrick Sewell, Sewell Group’s petrol forecourt MD, will be showcasing what Sewell has to offer at the NACS Future of Convenience Conference 2013 in Australia, alongside international giants such as Shell, Euro Garages and Carrefour. In his presentation ‘Best of Both Worlds – World Class and Local,’ Patrick will focus on how the Sewell balances being a proud Hull company with the synergies of working with major brands.

Alongside this great accolade down under, Sewell has also been revealed as a finalist for the International Retailer of the Year Award 2013. On hearing the news Patrick Sewell said:

“When I asked to present at the International Convenience Event in Australia, I was really honoured. It was a great opportunity for us to shout about Sewell, how we do business, and of course the city. Now having been shortlisted as on of the top retailers in the world – we’re really flattered.”

“Our legacy in the Hull dates back to 1876, it’s something we’re really proud of. We stock our shelves with local produce whenever we can and employ over 350 local people. When we redeveloped our service station at Hull West on the A63 last year we really played on this with the branding and imagery. The judges seem to be impressed with our local focus and the Hull West concept.”

Hannah Davies from Insight Research, who have shortlisted Sewell on the go as one of the best in the world said:

“The standard of the entries has been first class. The shortlist features retailers from Norway, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Switzerland, Argentina, Australia, Poland, Sweden and the UK – highlighting the international reach of convenience retailing and top concepts.”

“Each of the twelve finalists has differentiated their convenience offer and innovations – finalists are meeting consumers’ changing and evolving convenience needs. Their offers chime with the requirements of convenience shoppers both locally and on-the-go. Now it’s over to the top flight judging panel to read each of the finalists’ profiles, watch the videos, and select their overall winner.”

The International Convenience Retailer 2013 award will be presented in front of an international audience of leading convenience operators at the Insight/NACS Future of Convenience 2013 event in London during our Awards dinner on the evening of Wednesday 25th September 2013.To vote for Sewell click here.
